{"id":103,"date":"2009-08-17T12:31:00","date_gmt":"2009-08-17T17:31:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rosie.remarc.com\/?p=103"},"modified":"2010-03-14T11:46:12","modified_gmt":"2010-03-14T16:46:12","slug":"my-first-trip-vtj09","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rosie.remarc.com\/?p=103","title":{"rendered":"My First Trip &#8211; VTJ09"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a onclick=\"javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('\/downloads\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/2009_VTJ002.jpg');\"  href=\"http:\/\/rosie.remarc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/2009_VTJ002.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0px none; margin: 5px; display: inline;\" title=\"2009_VTJ 002\" src=\"http:\/\/rosie.remarc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/2009_VTJ002_thumb.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"2009_VTJ 002\" width=\"244\" height=\"184\" align=\"right\" \/><\/a> I took the trailer to the <a onclick=\"javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('\/outgoing\/vintagetrailerjam.com');\"  href=\"http:\/\/vintagetrailerjam.com\">Vintage Trailer Jam 2009 <\/a>in Saratoga Springs (<a onclick=\"javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('\/outgoing\/picasaweb.google.com\/ejc123\/VintageTrailerJam2009');\"  href=\"http:\/\/picasaweb.google.com\/ejc123\/VintageTrailerJam2009\">See my photos<\/a>).\u00a0 It took 5 long hours to get her there and my truck transmission started acting up before I arrived.\u00a0 My knees were like jelly, so Brett kindly offered to back her into her designated spot (Thank God!).\u00a0 But I had her setup and level in no time.\u00a0 We had a great time learning about restoration costs and tools from Colin Hyde, Brett had a &#8220;riveting&#8221; talk, Rich gave a good talk on boondocking, and I enjoyed Eleanor&#8217;s essential kitchen items for the trailer (Also see <a onclick=\"javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('\/outgoing\/airstreamlife.com\/maze\/2009\/08\/14\/vintage-trailer-jam-2009\/');\"  href=\"http:\/\/airstreamlife.com\/maze\/2009\/08\/14\/vintage-trailer-jam-2009\/\">Rich Luhr&#8217;s blog post<\/a> about it).\u00c2\u00a0 I was sorry to miss the backing up seminar &#8211; during which ironically, Brett was backing up my trailer for me.<br \/>\nFriday night I went into Troy and was fed a lovely supper by Corey and Noah and got to meet my new grandpup, Charlotte the lab mix.<\/p>\n<p><a onclick=\"javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('\/downloads\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/jumping_1920s_ford.jpg');\" class=\"imagelink\" title=\"1998 Ford jumping the 1920's Ford\"  href=\"http:\/\/rosie.remarc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/jumping_1920s_ford.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image110\" src=\"http:\/\/rosie.remarc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/jumping_1920s_ford.thumbnail.jpg\" alt=\"1998 Ford jumping the 1920's Ford\" align=\"left\" \/><\/a>Saturday was a red letter day.\u00a0 I jumped a 1920&#8217;s Ford truck with my 1998 F-150 (even with its own woes).\u00a0 Thanks to Mark and Jen for the picture.<\/p>\n<p><a onclick=\"javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('\/downloads\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/colin_under_rosie.jpg');\" class=\"imagelink\" title=\"Elly and Colin inspecting the underside of Rosie by lattern.\"  href=\"http:\/\/rosie.remarc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/colin_under_rosie.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image111\" src=\"http:\/\/rosie.remarc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/colin_under_rosie.thumbnail.jpg\" alt=\"Elly and Colin inspecting the underside of Rosie by lattern.\" align=\"right\" \/><\/a>And I finally got my trailer inspection done by Colin Saturday night.\u00a0 He answered all my questions about the timing and order of events and gave me many insights I would have had to discover the hard way.\u00a0 I was on cloud-nine until it was time to head home Sunday morning with a wacky transmission and 4500 lbs of aluminum in tow.\u00a0 I got home and had a victory supper with Craig, Marc, Carol, and Mom.
